v.5.1

the accordionist

he's usually there on my way over to the west bank. sitting on the washington avenue bridge playing the accordion for the college students as they go about their daily schedules.
i've seen him quite a bit and was always meaning to take a picture of him, but it just seemed that i always forgot to bring my camera with me. today i didn't forget.
i asked him if i could take his picture, and he said yes. after i took it i sat down next to him and talked to him a little bit as we waited for the picture to develop. although i didn't catch his name, he told me that he first came down to the cities from north dakota when he was about 17. the accordion he plays was his fathers, who used to play it at dances during the depression in order to earn a couple extra dollars for the family. he also mentioned seeing lawrence welk before he became famous on television.
we talked about how him and his lady friend (who happens to play the violin) were harassed in the skyways of downtown minneapolis. they were playing around christmas, and he told me that they were made out to be the "criminal carolers."
he laughed when he saw the queer men behind him and said, "that's what makes the picture." we talked for a couple more minutes before i had to get to class.
i'm glad i stopped to talk to him. because in the process i was shown a little slice of somebody else's life, and i feel that too often people pass him by without giving him a second glance. well, i didn't. and i'm glad for that.

v.4.7

the black keys

This diptych is of The Black Keys. they are one of the greatest bands to see live, save for the Flaming Lips. although they may not be as flashy or as visually spectacular as the Flaming Lips, they have a kick-ass show. it's hard to describe the aural experience and spectacular sound of this two-man powerhouse with mere words or pictures. let's just say that you would be doing yourself a disservice if you missed the next time these guys rolled through town.

v.4.6

country days

more images from the kohnstamm farm. this is the barn and some of the cows they had there. i really liked this cow because of the heart on its forehead. i guess that's all.

v.4.5

kohnstamm farm

so i went to my friend simon's farm for his grad party. it was pretty awesome. the next couple of days are going to be photos from his farm, because i just recently scanned them in and realized that they're pretty nice.

v.4.4

blogger was wonky yesterday.

a peculiar disappearance, or my friends and i solve a mystery pt. 2

well, nobody guessed at the last post, which i guess was to be expected. but nonetheless the answer still needs to be revealed. the mystery object in the previous post was a chocolate covered banana. it was eaten, and this is the aftermath.

v.4.3

today and tomorrow is another two-part post. hope you enjoy!

a peculiar disappearance, or my friends and i solve a mystery pt. 1

today the post is a mystery object. what could this be? are there any guesses? the answer will be revealed in tomorrows post! if anybody correctly guesses what the object is, they win nothing except for a high-five!

v.4.2

okay, i'm back at school, so now this should be a regular thing once again. my parents are still stuck in the age of dial-up, so when i'm at home on break...yeah. i don't want to talk about it.

bed springs

this isn't the best photo i've posted here, but it is a rather sentimental one. this was what i woke up to every morning the first semester of college. as of today, i will no longer be seeing this sight first thing in the morning. the e175 has been disbanded. alone in a single room, although i think it may be a blessing for my studying, is definitely a curse for my former roommates and i.

7.1.07

v.4.1

once again, sorry for the delay between posts, but the internet is still wonky.

the cottage

i know, i know. you might be saying, "cottage?" yah, that's what we call it. whenever i tell people about it and i dont have a picture, i usually say "cottage," and then retract that and then say, "summer home," and continue on to describe it as a plantation. this house one of the most relaxing places in the world for me.
